Three developments from the UAP science desk this week, and together they show a field growing up in public.
First, humility: analysts reviewing declassified military infrared videos from the PURSUE collection estimate that over 8% of the reviewed footage may depict birds rather than unknown craft, identified by wingbeat-frequency analysis. It’s not glamorous, but it’s science doing its job.
Second, ambition: scientists have developed a new molecular sensor designed to detect potential biosignatures — chemical signs of life — in meteorites and soil samples. If something biological ever turns up in a rock from space, this is the kind of instrument that will catch it.
Third, the one that never dies: a 1983 Defense Intelligence Agency document assessing the “Gateway Process” — research into hypnosis, consciousness, and out-of-body experience — has been released through FOIA. Whatever you make of Gateway, the paper trail is real: the U.S. government studied leaving the body, in writing, while publicly shrugging at the whole subject.
